The Art Heals the Soul Studio in Topsfield is now open for individual or small group spiritual companioning, transformational coaching and expressive art sessions.  There are no classes or workshops scheduled at this time due to the pandemic, but I would be happy to speak with you about what I can safely offer you. The studio is clean and spacious and has two rest rooms.

As we head into a long winter without social gatherings I, like so many other artists, have been searching for ways to share my creative adventures with you. I imagined that by now I’d be opening the art studio up again for classes. I can still host one or two people at a time in Topsfield, but larger gatherings are not in the cards until spring.

In the meantime I’ve been enjoying on-line classes by a variety of artists, including Seth Apter, Lyn Belisle, and Laura Horn. I’ve been encouraged by responses to my art posted on Facebook, but discouraged by the technology involved in setting up my own classes. Until I decided to check dear old Amazon to see just how expensive a filming set up would be, and bought one.

So here’s my proposal: A six month journey into art journaling, altered books, simple book-making, and other mixed media. It would include monthly Zoom meetings, demos in photos and brief videos, and art journaling prompts. We’d start with the basics – setting up your work space, choosing a substrate and materials, finding a palette or theme, and most importantly, how to play with your art. This will not be a course in how to draw all those wonderful faces you see in some artists’ work, or how to make your work look like anyone else’s. It’s about finding your style, your voice, your means of artistic expression.

I know many of you have had it with Zoom meetings, but I can tell you that the Creative Muses group I started is thriving on-line. Every meeting is a gift! We laugh, we share art, ideas and resources, and we encourage each other. Because I’m new at offering classes on-line, the first 3 months will be free. The second 3 months (and after, if enough people would like to keep going) will be a free-will donation. All I ask is if you start please stick with it, to keep the group active and alive. We’ll start as soon as there’s enough interest, and find a time we can all meet on Zoom once a month.
